Changes have been made due to Covid.
Our upstairs suite lounge is no longer available. We are sorry for this, but we will look at it again at a later date.
About us
We are Ken and Jenny Jordan, your hosts at Riverstone House bed and breakfast Geraldine. We’d like to tell you a little about us.
We had one of the oldest nurseries in New Zealand, at Tinwald, Ashburton, until we decided on a lifestyle change as our sons were not interested in continuing the family business. We specialized in growing Rhododendrons and Camellia, with a very strong interest in growing hostas, trilliums, maples, tree peonies and of late, lilies. There are many examples of these in our new garden at Geraldine.
For approx. 8 years Jenny managed the Ashburton i-Site Visitor Centre. Jenny has her Level 4 in Tourism, Diploma in Business and Diploma in Tourism Management.
In 2016 we purchased Riverstone House in Geraldine from the family of New Zealand’s champion rally driver Hayden Paddon. We have renovated and converted the home to bed and breakfast accommodation. With our extensive nursery history, we are enjoying the large gardens and lawns and the native birds singing.
Our home is made of river stone and timber is set on 1.5ha. (approx. 3 acres) Our home overlooks our large NZ native garden with many rhododendrons and camellias are in this setting.
Depending on the season, we may have some farm animals on the property. There may be lambs, sheep, calves or heifers.
We are also in the process of developing a pond and water garden.
Included in our family at Riverstone House are two British Short-hair cat and a family dog River which is new to our home. Our pets are not allowed in the guest suites. Coco and Misty will try to sneak in so please keep the bedroom door shut.
